Final Disposition: Struck from the Navy list on Sept. 16, 1947; sold for scrapping on Oct. 30, 1947 to Lipsett of New York City and delivered on Dec. 5, 1947 Used as Bikini Atoll atom bomb test and sunk July 25, 1946 near ground zero of "Baker test"

- Feb. 16-19, 1945 at Iwo Jima; March 25 to May 10, 1945 off Okinawa; Oct. 15, 1945 to Seattle, Washington
- October - December, 1945 troop transport duty with "Magic Carper"
- During WW2 Arkansas was the only battleship in the U.S. fleet with 12" guns-all others had 14" or 16" main battery armaments



Notes. - BB33 Arkansas laid down Jan. 1910 and completed Sept. 1912. Underwent extensive alterations and refit 1925-27 when displacement was increased by 3,000 tons. Has been replaced in the first line by new battleship North Carolina. The second ship of this class, Wyoming BB32 has been demilitarised and Nos. 3,4,5 turrets removed. She is now classed as a Trainig ship.
Gunnery Note. - Elevation of 12-inch guns from 15 to 30 deg. effected 1941.
