General Notes. - Delays in laying down these ships were due to changes in design, late delivery of materials and necessity for extending and strengthening building ships. Ships are fully 35 percent. welded. Engine room is arranged on a novel plan to save weight.
Gunnery Notes. - 16 inch are new model, reported to weight 125 tons each turret weights , 650 tons complete.
Engineering Notes. - Weight of machinery has been reduced in comparison with earlier battleships. Steam pressures and temperatures are reported to be greater than in any other battleship afloat.
