Notes: Both built at Naval Yards as
shown in table. Extensively reconstructed at same yards in 1934-36,
being given bulges and triple bottoms for protection against
torpedo attack, new machinery, aircraft, increased deck protection
and increased elevation of 16-inch guns. Trial speed after reconstruction
and reboilering reported as 26 kts.
